Amusement Ride Operator (Dry Rides) :Ride Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the rides at Water Safari. The primary responsibility is to assist each guest in safely riding each ride. Ride Operator positions involve working outdoors in all weather conditions. Ride Operators have a high level of guest interaction.
Essential Duties:
• Follow strict guidelines with regard to safety and emergency procedures

• Know and enforce all safety policies, rules and regulations for each ride

• Safely operate ride controls

Calypsos Cove – Ride Operator/Arcade Attendant : Ride Operators are responsible for the safe, friendly, and efficient operation of the rides and attractions. This role is responsible for safely running and supervising attractions such as go-karts, batting cages, bumper boats, rock climbing walls, and zip lines. Calypso’s Cove workers are asked to fill many different positions, including ride operation, selling attraction tickets/handling money, prize redemption, arcade games, maintenance, and more.
Ride Operator essential duties include:
• Follow strict guidelines with regard to safety and emergency procedures
• Maintain the cleanliness of the rides and surrounding work areas
• Know and enforce all safety policies, rules, and regulations for each ride
• Assist guests on and off rides
• Secure all safety restraints
• Safely operate ride controls

Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
During times of slow business, whether or not due to inclement weather, hours may be reduced. However, 32 hours of work is guaranteed on average throughout the summer. The schedule might change weekly and participants must be prepared to work accordingly. The employer does not guarantee the same schedule/shifts every week. Most shifts at Calypso’s Cove are from 1:45 pm to 10:00 pm. There are a limited number of shifts that may begin and end earlier. Extra hours are available with second jobs within the company. The employer encourages participants to explore second jobs within the company as a great opportunity to receive additional hours.
Food Service: Food Service employees are responsible for serving food orders to guests, working a cash register and handling American money, preparing food, cooking, cleaning, presenting items, and making sales. Participants must follow proper food handling procedures.
All employees may be asked to fill in different positions at Water Safari depending on business needs so flexibility is required. All positions require team members to assist in keeping the park clean. This may include, but is not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, washing, skimming, etc. All team members are expected to assist with these functions.
Lifeguard: Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining constant vigilance over swimmers and enforcing rules to prevent accidents and injuries and for the safe and efficient operation of Water Safari’s aquatic areas. Lifeguards are regularly exposed to all types of weather conditions & are required to stand for extended periods of time.
Lifeguards must maintain the cleanliness of the pools and surrounding work areas. Lifeguards will be required to participate in weekly in-service training sessions to maintain and improve lifeguarding skills. Lifeguards must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and possess good communication skills.
Responsibilities include:
• Monitoring pools with constant attention to all guests in their area
• Following strict guidelines with regard to safety and emergency procedures
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the pools and surrounding work areas
• Knowing and enforcing all safety policies, rules, and regulations
• Working well independently and as a part of a team
• Understanding and clearly communicating safety rules and procedures
• Rescuing guests and performing appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid
• Attending required in-service training to maintain and improve life-guarding skills
• Performing work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures
• Greeting guests, team members and visitors in a professional and friendly manner, answering questions, providing direction, and assisting in resolving concerns

**Housing is located on-site at Enchanted Forest/Water Safari. Participants will live with other J-1 and American college-aged employees in dormitory-style housing. Participants share a building (12-14 students per unit). There is a shared kitchen, coin-operated washer and dryers on-site, and free Wi-Fi. Each room will be shared by 2 or 3 people. Participants are expected to participate equally in efforts to keep the entire housing clean throughout the entire season to ensure the full refund of the deposit. Participants may be asked to move buildings or bedrooms to consolidate at either the beginning or end of the season or any other time due to the unlikely circumstance of maintenance needs. If maintenance is required and/or there is requested maintenance within the housing unit, maintenance staff will enter the house to assess/fix the situation, with or without warning. There is a $10 key replacement fee for lost keys.
