General Kitchen Worker : The Kitchen Worker is responsible for the day-to-day food production at our pub in Bellaire. The pub, our beer, and our food represent the public “face” of Short’s Brewing Company. Kitchen Workers ensure that SBC’s ideals are represented by our guests’ pub experiences.
The Kitchen Worker receives food orders, prepares sandwiches, pizzas, soups, appetizers, and to-go orders, and washes dishes as needed. The Kitchen Worker maintains a clean, organized, and stocked station and communicates with other Kitchen Workers to expedite high quality food with efficiency and accuracy. The Kitchen Worker must effectively communicate with pubtenders and management about any food production issues and out of stock items as they arise.
This is an at-will, hourly, seasonal only position that reports to Pub Management.
Daily Duties include, but are not limited to:
– Prepare the station for the day by stocking, prepping, and learning the specials each day.
– Monitor food quality to ensure the components of each dish are up to SBC standards as each item is prepared.
– Monitor consistency of each product whether they are made in-house or purchased.
– Always rotate stock and use the “First In, First Out” method.
– Communicate with co-workers often and consistently to ensure proper timing is achieved.
– Work together to ensure appetizers are sent out first and that all the items on a ticket are done at the same time.
– Monitor ticket times.
– Ensure that work stations are always clean and sanitary and in compliance with health code standards.
– Follow the closing checklist to ensure the kitchen is cleaned and stocked each night after the kitchen has closed.
– Understand how to fully operate the kitchen equipment including, but not limited to: steam wells, induction burners, ovens, knives, thermometers, and coolers.
– Work as a team to keep up on washing and putting away dishes as needed.

**Housing is provided in a converted motel. Participants can live in their own room for $115 per person, per week. If participants would like to share a room with another participant, each participant will pay $57.50 per person, per week. Each room has a mini-fridge and microwave. There is a television in each room and a full bathroom. Internet is available. There is a full kitchen available for all residents on the property as well as a common area with games and a television. There is also an outdoor seating area with a fire pit. The employee housing is within walking distance from the community park, a convenience store, coffee shop, and downtown Bellaire. Participants can walk to work or they can ride bicycles that are provided by the host employer.
Transportation to work
Participants can walk to work or use bicycles provided by the host employer. Host employer can organize rides depending on the weather.
